This worksheet turns a bounding box and selected tag families into Overpass QL. It generates text only; inspecting or editing the query does not contact an Overpass service.

Set the boundary and predicates

Enter south, west, north and east in decimal degrees. Check that latitude is between −90 and +90, longitude between −180 and +180, and the bounds describe the intended area. Antimeridian-crossing selections need deliberate handling rather than an ordinary west–east rectangle.

Choose tags representing the feature class and select nodes, ways or relations as needed. out center tags produces representative points; select geometry output when downstream work needs actual footprints or lines.

Review before submitting

Read the generated predicates, timeout and output clause. Start with a small area, then submit deliberately using an Overpass client or the command-line example. Retain the query with the returned response.

The builder does not assess source completeness, verify local tagging conventions or convert OSM JSON into GeoJSON.
